Nagrakata, 6 June 2026: Five members of the Radio Club of Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri joined Team Zindagi NGO in a plantation drive at Manish Giri Memorial School, Sukhanibasti, organized in collaboration with the Block Development Office, Nagrakata.
The initiative brought together volunteers, students, and community members, with Radio Club members participating as part of their ongoing internship under Team Zindagi. While the day’s activity focused on planting saplings, the larger vision extended to cultivating environmental awareness and sustainable habits among young learners.
Through its expanding School Fellowship Programme, Team Zindagi works closely with schools to promote ecological responsibility, waste management, and community engagement. “Plantation drives are important, but real change happens when young people understand why stewardship matters,” said Ankit Sarki, founder of Team Zindagi. “We want students to become active guardians of their environment, not just participants in one‑day events.”
For Radio Club members, the drive offered practical exposure to community‑based environmental action. “Our students are learning that sustainability is not just a classroom concept,” noted Anand Kumar, founder of the Radio Club. “Working alongside Team Zindagi shows how small local actions can create lasting impact.”
As environmental challenges grow, collaborations between educational institutions, NGOs, and local communities highlight how education and action together can nurture a generation committed to sustainability.
