Siliguri: To observe the World Day Against Child Labour 2026, Seva Kendra, in collaboration with Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri Sports Department organized a spirited football campaign under the theme “Red Card to Child Labour – Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.”
The initiative held on 10 June 2026, sought to raise awareness and affirm society’s responsibility to protect children’s rights and ensure access to education.
Representatives from the Diocese of Bagdogra, including Bishop Paul Simick, Seva Kendra Director Fr. Naresh Beck, Advocacy Officer Mr. Tez Kumar Thapa, Salesian College Vice Principal Fr. C.M. Paul, faculty members of the Sports Department, personnel from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Commandant Pallav Kr Das, and ACP Farukh Chowdhury of the Enforcement Branch, Siliguri Police attended the event.
Welcoming the gathering, Fr. Beck introduced the Surokhit Shaisav project, which focuses on child protection and education. Awareness sessions highlighted the causes and consequences of child labour and the importance of collective community action.
Two friendly football matches carried the campaign’s message, with teams from Salesian College Siliguri, SSB Ranidanga, Gungaram‑Moonic, and Belgachi participating.
